At an auction organized by Artcurial Retromobile in 2015, one bidder paid $35.7 million to get his hands on Ferrari 335 Sport Scaglietti. The car in question competed at a number of high-profile races in 24 Hours Le Mans and used to belong to famed French businessman and car collector Pierre Bardinon. It is one of only four Ferrari 335 Sport Scagliettis ever made.

Two Ferrari 250 GTOs from 1962 are among the most expensive classic cars ever sold at an auction. One Ferrari 250 GTO was sold at Bonham’s 2014 Quail Lodge auction in 2014 for $38.1 million, while the other one fetched $48.4 million in 2018 at an auction organized by RM Sotheby’s. Ferrari produced 250 GTO models from 1962 to 1924, and there are only 36 of them in existence.

Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR originated as a race car made for the 1955 World Sportscar Championship. The company later manufactured two road-legal 300 SLR coupés, which were known as “Uhlenhaut Coupes” after the car’s designer Rudolf Uhlenhaut. One model is kept in the Mercedes-Benz’s corporate museum in Bad Cannstatt, while the other was sold at an auction organized by RM Sotheby’s for $142 million in 2022.
