The National Basketball League (NBA) is a league of records. It appears that every year some record or feat gets crushed. Nobody thought someone could average a triple-double in a season besides Oscar Robertson, only for Russell Westbrook to do it three times. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s 38,387 career points seemed untouchable, but LeBron James is on pace to top that in the next season or two.

With that being said, there are few records from the NBA’s illustrious history that will probably never be broken.

John Stockton’s 15,806 Career Assists

Playing 19 seasons for the Utah Jazz, Hall of Fame point guard John Stockton racked up 15,806 career assists. This is 3,715 more than Jason Kidd, who is in second place on the all-time list. The closest active player to Stockton is 37-year-old Chris Paul, who has 10,977.

Wilt Chamberlain’s 100 Points in a Single Game

Wilt Chamberlain scored 100 points in Philadelphia Warriors’ 169–147 win over the New York Knicks during the 1961-62 NBA season. This remarkable feat will probably never be matched or topped, considering the improved defense and the way modern basketball is played. The only player that came close is the late Kobe Bryant, who scored 81 for the Los Angeles Lakers in 2006’s win against the Toronto Raptors.

A.C. Green’s 1,192 Consecutive Games Played

The age of “ironman” in the NBA is long gone. Due to packed schedules and load management, players, especially superstars, rarely play a full regular season. This is why A.C. Green’s record of 1,192 consecutive games played in the league is considered virtually untouchable. Green set the record by never missing a single game from 1987 to 2001, despite dressing up for four different franchises during that time span.
