We decided to take a look into the history of video games and see which titles have sold the most copies. And the list of those that came on top might surprise you.
Grand Theft Auto V – 170 Million Copies
The Grand Theft Auto video game series has seen 355 million units sold, with the majority of that number coming from the most recent installment in the franchise, Grand Theft Auto V. Since its release in 2013, the GTA V has sold an impressive 170 million copies. Minecraft – 238 Million Copies
The sandbox video game Minecraft took the world by storm in 2011 thanks to the enormous possibilities it offers and continues to be popular to date. It not only sold 238 million copies but also continues to have close to 140 million active players on a monthly basis.
Tetris – 520 Million Copies
According to the official page of Tetris, this simple video game has sold around 520 million copies since it was first launched on Electronika 60 computer in 1984. The game’s addictive gameplay resulted in numerous iterations, remakes, and releases over the following decades. Even today, the new versions of Tetris are being released for a number of platforms and played by millions of players around the world.
